Why Not Prosper offers this 4-week program to provide employability skills for formerly incarcerated women. At the conclusion of the program students will receive a Work Readiness Certificate acknowledging they have acquired the skills needed to not only re-enter the workforce but become successful employees.
Computer Literacy This condensed course prepares students to use the Internet, Google email, search the web and use basic computer input and output devices.
Computer Skills for the Workplace An intensive almost exclusively hands-on course which provides students with knowledge of the basic Word, Excel and PowerPoint software programs used in business as well as health fields.
Employment Workshops This course will help students prepare a resume, cover letter, use the internet to search for jobs, learn virtual and in person interview skills, and how to complete online and in person job applications.
Customer Service Students learn the importance of customer service and how it impacts their job. Learn how to communicate effectively, how to resolve conflict, and how to handle difficult situations and people. Also how time management skills relate to customer service.
These are scheduled courses that meet either in person or online. Students are required to register for these courses when they are scheduled to run. At the conclusion of these courses, students will take the industry exam to receive the certificate.
ServSafe Food Handler Certificate - Online Self-Paced Course This is a self-paced online course that prepares students for the ServSafe Food Handler Certificate examination. Throughout the course, students go through 5 online sessions including: Food Safety and Personal Hygiene, Controlling Time and Temperature, Preventing Cross Contamination and more. Students have 3 opportunities to pass the ServSafe Food Handler’s exam. The certification is valid for five years.
Home Caregiver Certificate – 8-week In-Class or Online Self-Paced Course This Caregiver course is designed to prepare students with the skills to start an entry-level career as a caregiver providing personal home care for the elderly. Students in this course will gain an understanding of home caregiver services by studying resident rights, how to provide ADLs, record keeping, risk management, and ambulation. Upon successful completion of this course, students are prepared to take the National Caregiver Certification Exam.
Phlebotomy Certificate – In Class and Online 12 weeks [120 required clock hours] The Phlebotomist is trained on the techniques for obtaining blood samples for a variety of tests. This course will teach the process for obtaining, labeling and transporting blood specimens. Upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to sit for the Registered Phlebotomy Technician Exam. Flagger Course This course prepares students to work in the roadway safety services. At the end of the course, students take the American Traffic Safety Services exam to become a Certified Flagger.
